After their home is destroyed, Yazhu Novikov and his sister flee to an unfamiliar city, hoping to escape the men who killed their father. However, the pursuers are relentless, drawn by Yazhu’s ability to Speak the Gods’ language into existence. Yazhu disguises himself as a woman by using his mother’s clothing to protect himself.

Sascha Kolzlovsky is a mercenary and mother who wields her swords to pursue a better life for her daughter. She shields her true identity under her knight father’s armor, masquerading as a man. However, a chance encounter in a local pub raises questions about her father’s death from illness, and his shadow threatens to engulf her. 

As Yazhu and Sascha’s paths intertwine amidst the perilous streets, their growing attraction ignites a spark that could change everything. Together, they must face the terrifying beasts that stalk them and unravel a tangled tapestry waiting to snare them.
